December 30, 2002so lately i have gone through three fog light bulbs in about 4 months and when i was parked last night i noticed about a half inch of water floating in my fog lamp. only my drivers side lamp, not the passengers. ive taken out the fog lamp and i havent noticed any cracks or anything that would allow water in. has anyone else had this problem or is it just me?
December 30, 2002Well, I would say you know why the bulbs are going! I have heard others talk about this problem. I think they sealed around the lens with silicone. Maybe someone else will pipe up and give you some suggestions.
December 30, 2002I haven't had this problem but I would definately say that you have a leak. It is probably the seal. If you can get the inside of your foglight dry, then you can seal it with silicone or something similar. But if you can't, I'd be hitting the junkyards. If you can't get the inside of the assembly dry, you will always have condensation in the assembly in cold weather...
December 30, 2002I drilled a small drain hole on the bottom and used clear silicone around the edges!!
December 31, 2002hot94gt... let us know if Cav's solution works! He has a good track record thus far!
January 2, 2003tommorow ill get some silicone and try and fix it
January 6, 2003well I sealed the light and somehow the top of the housing was cracked. Now I just have to wait for the rain to hit and see if the seals will hold.
January 6, 2003The source of the leak found and hopefully repaired. Let us know if the fix worked... I suspect that it will have!
January 7, 2003mine and my dad's stang both had a problem with the fod lights. one was always brighter than the other so what did i do ripped them off and am currently working on new bracketry for some hella driving lights that fit almost oem style. but will be like day time. lol
January 8, 2003well i have good news and bad news. the good news is that the weather is nice for january. but the bad news is that there has been no rain so i am still waiting to see if the seal will hold. i guess i will just have to deal with nice weather!
January 8, 2003why don't u just get a bucket of water or something and dump it over the fog lights. pretty much creates the same effect. or just a get a hose and sit there and spray them. also same thing. then u can see if u have any more leaks and u don't have to wait for the rain. my 2 cents.
