May 7, 2004Hey, I've been having some cooling issues lately. On the Hwy, I'm fine at about 185*, but in traffic & local driving I'll hit 220*-230*. I figure thatthe fan clutch is shot, since I only seem to have a problem at low speeds. Anyway, I'm thinking of ditching the cluch fan altogether & just switching to a Flex fan (I just dropped a bundle on the motor & don't have the money for an electric fan right now). I know I need a reverse rotation fan but does anyone know what size fan I need (16,17,18 or 19 inch) & what size adapter? I'm using the stock fan shroud & stock radiator (I'll switch over to an aluminum next year). Thanks for the input, I appreciate any advise you can give
May 7, 2004i am not sure what size fan you need, but if you do install a flex fan, you may need the longer spacer to get it close enough to the radiator for it to work properly. Mine had the stock 1" spacer and it was too far away to be effective. I switched to the 2" and it made a difference.
The fan itself should be about an 1" from the radiator.
January 30, 2012Hi everyone...I am really confused about which radiator and mechanical fan combination is the best for cooling...I am moving to Arizona and temperatures can reach 120+ and wanted to know which radiator to get... I have a 1967 Coupe and wanted to know what size spectra radiators, aluminum vs. brass/copper?, and which is the best mechanical fan setup? Thank you
