July 6, 2006well i used to love my headlights when i bought the car a year ago...the smoked lenses...very "cobralike" but recently they have gotten fogged and it really annoys me... i dont know whether i should buy new lights b/c if i do what will stop them from turning (silicone all the cracks?) or should i just buy some headlight covers? what would they look like on my ride? thanks for any advice you can give me on this aggravating situation

July 6, 2006New lenses are supposed to have some type of coating that prevents them from yellowing/fogging.
You can polish them clear again, but they will fog up again quicker than last time. The only semi-permanent fix is to just get new lenses.
July 6, 2006Are they fogging on the INSIDE? Or is the plastic lense on the outside yellowing or getting dingy?
If it's on the INSIDE, then remove the lamp, remove the bulb allow to dry out (humidity) or blow out with an air hose.
I would guess that your idea would work sealing it IF you can find the seam that is leaking. If BOTH of them are fogging up, then I would wonder if you've had temperature/humidity changes to the extreme recently.
May 27, 2011I bought a headlight restoration kit, did it, this cheap auto parts worked fine.. looked uneven so i used it on the other headlight to.. Its been a month and ive puchrased headlight bezels. and for some reason (i dont know what i was thinking) i thought of RE-DOING the kit hoping the headlight would look even better before i put the bezels on.I sanded it down, did everything by the book just as i did the first time. And now my headlight IS CLOUDY, worst than its even been before. I attempt to repolish didnt work, Cut & Wax has not worked. Nothing seems to be working.. IT looks as if its just been sanded down..
What do i do? What do i use..??
Did i ruin my headlight for good?
