September 11, 2006Found a 2001 Lightning w/33K miles. Thinking about trading the Mustang in for it. . . what do you think?

September 11, 2006Is it an even trade? If not, how much will it cost you?
September 11, 2006it all depends on the deal. just remember a Lightning has to run 93 octane.
September 11, 2006A friend of mine have one and they are fast but he spend a lot of money on gas.
September 11, 2006Dang near bought one instead of the 03 vert I had.
Ford was giving the 02 Lightnings away around here, practicality for this snowy area was nil.
I wasn't particularly impressed with the build quality of the Lightning
The get up and go really drew me in !
Then once I started looking really close I could see the "rattletrap" way the truck was put together...
I remember a Ford dealer in Salt Lake had two of them for the "Dump-o" price of around 24K-26K...
September 12, 2006I drove the lightning last night and it's pretty quick . . . not as quick as my Mustang but w/a few minor mods ($500 - 1k) it will run faster than my stang. As of now, w/street tires, the Stang runs in the 12's at the 1/4 mile track. The Lightning as 33K on the odometer and my Mustang has 73K. The dealership is offering 9000 for the Mustang as is and selling the truck for 19k. I have mixed feelings on this as I have spent a lot of on the stang and have become very connected to the car. I'd like a truck because here in FL we get streets that flood all of the time and I have a hard time getting around in the Stang. I may go for it and will let you all know. If I do it I guess I'll have to go to truck world instead of here. :cry
September 12, 2006how will the Lightning go bettr in flooded streets?
September 12, 2006Oh but that SC whine make all the difference! LOL
September 12, 2006For that whiny noise I recommend a twin turbo diesel powered vehicle...
September 12, 2006... but then you won't hear the turbo whine over the diesel clatter!
