July 1, 2007I am looking to change the mufflers for my 98 Crown Vic Police Interceptor, but of course nobody makes a cat back. Im interested in a set of stock 05+ mufflers, but they must have a diameter of 2" inlet with any size outlet. They also have to have an offset inlet and any side outlet. Does anybody know if the 05+ mufflers (stock) have that configuration? If the 05+ have a 2.5" inlet, could I use a step up pipe with a clamp to make them work? I just want a mild rumble...nothing nasty.

July 5, 2007your best bet is take it to a shop. let them give you some suggestions based on what they can get you. oooooooooooor get you a Magnaflow muffler and clamp in on.
BTW having a shop custom make you an exhaust is a whole lot cheaper than buying a Cat-back.
July 16, 2007I have been watching teh chatter on crownvic.net and a lot of those guys go with the Magnaflow, so I may just do that. Custom exaust would be cheaper?
July 16, 2007Cheaper because they could retain your existing exhaust pipes from the engine to the mufflers, and from the mufflers to the tailpipes, and just replace the mufflers.
So, you'd pay for 2 mufflers and some cutting and welding.
