December 31, 2010I want to ditch the Holley double pumper for a carb that is better suited for the motor. I want something that is easy to tune, will hold the settings, and be right for the motor. What are your suggestions?

January 1, 2011Nice looking car there RoushFan!
Seems like Holley has just about shoved all the other carb makers out of the market. Except for Edelbrock.
Correct me if I`m wrong (and I`m almost sure that someone will) weren`t some versions of the old 4 barrel Carters that are rebuild-able well suited to the small block engines like Fords 5.0?
Probably not easy to find older carbs these days since FI has been the standard for near 20 years.
January 2, 2011Edelbrock bought the rights to all the old Carter carbs. So, the new Edelbrocks *are* Carters, basically.

Always thot those Edelbrock carbinaters looked familiar.
Amember the good old days,
Dropping carb parts all over the bench and floor.
Losing stuff out of the box.
Cheap kits with gaskets that didn`t quite fit.
Sticky butterflies and float arms.
Bending throttle rods to get the right idle or foot feel.
Trying to set vacuum with a worn out idle screw.
Yes thems were the days...
